Over 150 women leaders and active members participated, representing various villages and community groups within the four clusters, in sessions run in collaboration with the Kiteto District Council.
Participants explored the importance of women's voices in community decision-making, confidence-building, communication, and negotiation skills, with open dialogue on cultural barriers to participation.
Training covered record keeping, financial reporting, and meeting documentation, helping women strengthen forum structures and clarify leadership roles.
Participants were introduced to entrepreneurship, savings, budgeting, and investment principles, and encouraged to utilize the 10% Local Government Loan Fund for women, youth, and persons with disabilities.
Sessions raised awareness on domestic violence, early and forced marriages, and barriers to girls' education, training women on reporting mechanisms and supporting survivors.
The training fostered a sense of unity and confidence among women leaders, empowering them to advocate for gender equality and serve as change agents in their communities. Participants committed to promoting girls' education, challenging harmful cultural norms, and supporting efforts to reduce gender-based violence.
Through these sessions, women gained not only practical leadership skills but also a shared vision for creating more inclusive and resilient pastoral societies.
By strengthening the capacity of Women's Leadership Forums, KINNAPA Development Programme continues to pave the way for more inclusive governance in pastoral communities. The initiative contributes to greater gender balance in leadership, improved community decision-making, and enhanced social resilience to climate and livelihood challenges.
