Nasinyari Lenges
Nasinyari Lenges comes from Simanjiro District, an area where many families struggle with poverty and limited access to opportunities, especially for young girls. She grew up in a modest household where life was already challenging, but things became even harder after the death of her mother.
The loss of her mother brought emotional pain and instability into her life. At a young age, Nasinyari was forced to take on responsibilities that were far beyond her age. She had to help care for her siblings and support the household, while at the same time trying to continue her education.
Due to severe financial hardship, she faced strong pressure to drop out of school so she could focus entirely on supporting her family. Her dream of completing her education and building a better future seemed to be slowly fading away as survival needs became more urgent than schooling.
During this critical moment in her life, Nasinyari was identified and supported through KINNAPA Development Programme. She was awarded a scholarship that enabled her to return to school and continue her education without the burden of school-related costs.
In addition to academic support, she also received vocational training in tailoring. This training equipped her with practical skills that could help her generate income even while studying, giving her both education and economic empowerment at the same time.
With determination and support, Nasinyari successfully balanced her studies and vocational activities. She gradually improved her skills, gained confidence, and started applying what she learned in real life.
Today, she runs a small tailoring business that supports her daily needs and contributes to her household. More importantly, she has become a source of inspiration in her community, showing other girls that education and self-reliance are possible even after facing deep hardships.
Her journey continues to grow as she also supports other families in small ways, proving that empowerment does not only change one life but can positively impact many others around her.
