A new hand-dug well has transformed daily life in Koruwe, giving nearly 500 residents reliable access to clean and safe water close to home.
For years, families in Koruwe depended on distant seasonal streams and unsafe water sources. Women and children spent hours each day walking long distances to collect water for drinking, cooking, and household use.
Unsafe water exposed families to disease and reduced time for farming, education, and daily activities, especially during the dry season.
With support from Water to Thrive, KINNAPA Development Programme partnered with the community to construct a Hand-Dug Well, establish a WASH Committee, and promote hygiene education for long-term sustainability.
Nearly 500 residents now enjoy reliable access to clean water. Families save time, children attend school more consistently, and the community is healthier and more productive.
Health, school attendance, and daily productivity have all improved since the well was completed.
